My Time, Our Place
St Joseph's After School Care has a vision for children’s learning through play and leisure.
‘My Time, Our Place’ The National Quality Framework.
Our centre seeks to achieve the 5 learning outcomes within this framework.
1. Children have a strong sense of identity
2. Children are connected with and contribute to their world
3. Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
4. Children are confident and involved learners
5. Children are effective communicators
Age appropriate activities are programmed each week to extend on the children’s learning through play. Activities that are always offered are arts and crafts, construction play, outside & inside play and a homework group for children that need to complete homework. The activities are displayed on our notice board and in our program books with room for parents and children to add any input. All children have a say in the type of activities they would like to do.
In the vacation care holidays we hire a bus and a bus driver to take the children on exciting excursions throughout the week. Some of the excursions we have attended and that the children have really enjoyed are the NAIDOC Celebrations, The Movies, The Strand, King Pin, The Barra fishing farm, Sizzlers etc.
St Joseph's Outside School Hours Care supplies a nutritionally balanced afternoon tea. The educators are aware of all children with special dietary requirements and these children are catered for.
All of the educators have formal qualifications or are in the process of obtaining qualifications. The educators working have obtained their Blue card, First aid and they have also done asthma and anaphylaxis training.
St Joseph's Outside School Hours Care is currently licensed to care for 100 children.
