Our Kindergarten offers little learners an education program delivered in a Catholic environment where the spirituality of each child is valued.
Mary MacKillop Childcare North Queensland Kindergartens are located on-site at schools within the Townsville Catholic Diocese, including St Joseph's Catholic School, The Strand.
One of the greatest benefits of the kindy-school co-location is the continuity of learning. Our Kindergartens provide children with opportunities to participate in the life of the Catholic school community by visiting the library, the local Catholic church, art/science programs, school sporting events, assemblies and special celebrations.

What is Kindergarten?
Kindergarten formally replaces what used to be ‘Pre-Prep'. Kindergarten is one of the three objectives outlined in the Queensland Government's Flying Start for Queensland Children initiative.
The kindergarten program provides a balance of intentional teaching and child-initiated learning through inquiry-based and purposeful play environments. Children are given ownership of their learning through the programs.
