Learning at St Joseph's

At St Joseph’s Catholic School, learning is a lifelong journey that is authentic and inclusive. We plan for different learning styles and abilities to build confident, creative, empowered learners who feel safe and valued and have a voice in our community. Our beliefs about learners and learning are underpinned by Jesus as our indispensable teacher and the influence He has in the lives of our students.

All schools in the Townsville Diocese work from the Learning Areas of the Australian Curriculum to develop classroom learning programs. St Joseph's enacts the Australian Curriculum through maintaining the integrity of individual subjects while also providing opportunities for purposeful connections between learning areas in fun and meaningful ways. Important twenty-first century skills, such as critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, collaboration and creativity are also included across our curriculum, as we endeavour to ensure the curriculum is accessible for all students learners.

Parents and community members are an important part of the St Joseph's School's community. Parental support for example, volunteering in classrooms, attending special events & excursions, is encouraged and welcomed.
